Online Portfolios

The portfolio process:
The process I follow to create my online portfolios varies and I will try to explain what it consists of.

First, this process is fundamentally different from the process I use to create my print portfolios. The goal of the print portfolios is to create a world-class work of art. The creation of a print portfolio takes years of work, the images are selected among hundreds of top-class images and no effort or expense is spared.

Online portfolios are created much more quickly and the selection of images is not as severe. In fact I often select images for my print portfolios by editing the content of my online portfolios. In other words I use the online portfolios as one of the starting points for my print portfolios. As a result only a small number of images in my online portfolios make it into my print portfolios,.

Second, as a general rule online portfolios contain a selection made from all the photos taken during a specific visit.
This may be a one day or a one hour visit or it can be a multi day (up to one week) visit.

Third, my Best Of Online Portfolios feature a selection of the best images selected from the other portfolios for that year. For example the 2015 Best of Online Portfolio features images that may be featured in my other 2015 Online Portfolios. However, this is only a general rule and is not always the case.

Fourth, the images shown in my online portfolios represent a larger selection of subjects than those featured in my print portfolios. Photographs of my backyard, of Las Vegas, or of Origami foldings, to name but a few, have not made it to print portfolios. However, the fact that this has not taken place so far does not preclude the possibility of it happening in the future.
